Fullerton Union High School is embarking on an ambitious athletics project to elevate the student-athlete experience by developing modern facilities. In collaboration with Erickson-Hall Construction Co. through its Lease-Leaseback services, the school will add approximately 33,270 square feet of new and renovated athletic facilities to its campus.

At the heart of this major initiative is a new two-story athletic building. The ground floor will accommodate locker rooms, team rooms, training areas, and additional support spaces, while the second floor will house classrooms, offices, and various activity spaces. This strategic design aims to foster a seamless connection between athletics and education.

Vince Madsen, Director of Facilities and Maintenance Operations, expressed the project’s significance beyond mere infrastructure. “We are committed to providing students with the tools that will enable them to succeed on and off the field. These comprehensive upgrades are just one step toward enhancing both educational and athletic experiences for our students,” he stated.

In addition to the new athletic building, the project will revamp the school’s northern parking lot, transforming it into a modern and accessible space for students, staff, and visitors. The upgraded area will include electric vehicle charging stations, ADA-compliant parking, a new driveway, bicycle parking, and improved pedestrian walkways, all designed to create a more welcoming campus environment.

The athletic enhancements also include five new tennis courts, as well as upgraded softball and baseball fields, complete with new sports lighting at the baseball field to support evening practices. These improvements aim to provide greater flexibility and training opportunities for student-athletes.

“This initiative not only provides high-quality spaces for training and teamwork but also aims to instill a stronger sense of pride throughout the Fullerton Union High School community,” Madsen added.

The athletics project reflects the school’s commitment to offering resources that empower students to pursue their goals both on the field and in the classroom. According to Mat Gates, President of Erickson-Hall Construction Company, “Our goal is to create a space that not only serves Fullerton Union High School’s students today but also supports generations for years to come.”

As construction progresses, Fullerton Union High School anticipates a future where students have access to state-of-the-art facilities that match their aspirations, strengthening both educational and extracurricular programs and establishing a legacy for future generations.
