In response to a noticeable uptick in mosquito populations and the associated risks of mosquito-borne diseases, the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) will implement targeted mosquito control measures in the cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, and Fullerton.

Scheduled for Wednesday through Friday, September 9 to 11, the treatments will take place from midnight to 5:30 am. During these early hours, OCMVCD will deploy truck-mounted applications of the products AquaDuet and DeltaGard.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about these treatments. An interactive map on the OCMVCD website lets individuals enter their address to confirm whether their property is within the treatment area. The district assures residents that the application of these products poses no harm to people or pets, even if they are present during the treatments. Additionally, local fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and fishponds will remain unscathed. There is no requirement to turn off air conditioning systems during the application process, and treatments are timed to avoid periods of bee activity, minimizing impact on beneficial insects.

It is important to note that if mosquito population numbers remain high or if disease presence is detected, additional treatments may be scheduled throughout the biting season. Community members are advised to stay vigilant as the region navigates this critical public health initiative.
