Meet the Candidates: Your Presence Matters

Voters in District 4 (Brea, Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Placentia, Stanton and part of Anaheim) will choose between Republican Tim Shaw, an Orange County Board of Education trustee and former La Habra councilmember, and Democrat Connor Traut, the mayor of Buena Park. The supervisors oversee about $11 billion in county spending, and this race could decide which party holds the board majority. Hear both candidates at the League’s forum on Monday, October 5, 5:30–7:00 p.m., at Fullerton College, Cruz Reynoso Hall, Room 224.

Local elections shape the decisions that touch our lives most directly: our schools, streets, public safety, housing, parks, and how our tax dollars are spent. Yet these races often get the least attention. The League of Women Voters of North Orange County candidate forums are your chance to hear directly from the people asking for your vote, see how they respond to community questions, and compare their positions side by side, all in a fair, nonpartisan setting.

Forums give you something campaign mailers and social media can’t: unscripted answers and the opportunity to judge for yourself. Whether you’re a longtime voter or casting your first ballot, attending helps you make an informed choice and shows candidates that our community is paying attention. Bring your sample ballot, bring your questions, and bring a neighbor.

Democracy works best when we show up.
