Laguna Road Elementary PTA Organizes Car Parade for Teacher Appreciation Week

On Friday, May 1, 2020, the Laguna Road PTA organized a car parade to celebrate the teachers, staff and the principal. “We wanted to honor our teachers and staff in a special way. We are truly blessed with amazing teachers, staff and principal who have all been working tirelessly to continue educating, inspiring and motivating our children even through these troubling times. They are, simply, the best!” – said the PTA Co-Presidents of Laguna Road, Sonal Thakker and Candice Kim.

Parents lined up with their children to catch a glimpse of their teachers, who they haven’t seen since the quarantine order in March 13th 2020. They drove through the campus waving and cheering the teachers. What was supposed to be a celebration for the teachers ended up being an extraordinary treat for the kids and parents, as staff and teachers wearing “Laguna Strong” t-shirts enthusiastically welcomed and cheered each car that came out for the parade. Laguna Elementary School is a clear example of an extraordinary community coming together to support one another during extraordinary times.

The teachers were overwhelmed with the show of support. “It takes a village to raise one child. My mask served as protection, but it also caught my tears.” said teacher Mary Nguyen. “Tears of joy were streaming down my face” commented teacher Malinda Jeffries.  “I felt so much happiness seeing every child’s smiling face cruising by me.” said teacher Jennifer Kim-Lee.
