Fullerton Observer Survey: How important is it to you to have a paper newspaper?

How important is it to you to have a paper newspaper?

Due to the high cost and environmental impact of paper, the Fullerton Observer is considering going to subscription only.

That means no more distribution sites where the paper is picked up for free.

We request your input to help weigh the pros and cons of this important decision. We would also like to know:

  • What reports or articles are important to you?
  • What do you think are the most important issues to cover?
  • Where do you pick up the Observer?

Please respond in writing to PO Box 7051, Fullerton, CA 92834 or email: ADS@fullertonobserver.com

  1. Do people who read the paper online still like to have the paper copy available at civic centers, colleges, restaurants and grocery stores around town?

    • I currently read the paper online. While I’d consider reading the paper version if I ever came across it, I have never actually seen a paper copy! In fact until today I didn’t know there was a paper version of the Observer. I think that part of what makes the Observer great is its ability to get out a diversity of stories very quickly – something not possible with once-every-3-weeks physical papers. However, for giving summaries of what’s going on in the City to the whole population, I think paper versions do still serve a good purpose.

  2. I feel the paper copies of the observer distributed in various places around town are very important. It is the only detailed information about their City that many people get. Given the poor coverage of other choices such as the news there would be much less exposure to what is happening in Fullerton without those paper copies.
