As of 10 a.m. on January 20, 2025, the LA County Coordinated Joint Information Center has released critical updates regarding the ongoing Eaton and Palisades fires, which pose significant threats in the region.
Red Flag Warning in Effect
A Particularly Dangerous Situation Red Flag Warning has been issued for LA County, effective from noon today through Tuesday at 10 a.m. The warning comes as powerful Santa Ana winds sweep through the area, creating extreme fire conditions that could lead to downed trees, power outages, and hazardous driving situations. Local officials urge residents to register for emergency alerts and to have an evacuation plan in place. For further details, the complete media release can be found [here].
Fatalities and Damage Reports
The fires have tragically resulted in 27 confirmed fatalities, according to the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office, which is continuing its investigation. Updates will be provided on their website as search and rescue operations progress.
