Governor Gavin Newsom has officially reappointed Jose Solorio to the California Water Commission. Solorio, a resident of Santa Ana, has been serving on the commission since 2021.

Since 2024, Solorio has held the position of Director of External Affairs and Business Development for California American Water. His previous experience includes serving as a Government Affairs Officer at the Moulton Niguel Water District from 2018 to 2024. He was also a member of the Santa Ana City Council from 2016 to 2020 and worked as a Senior Policy Advisor at Nossaman LLP between 2015 and 2018.

A former Assemblymember for the 69th District in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2012, Solorio brings a wealth of policy and governance experience to his role. He holds a Master of Public Policy degree focused on Government and Business Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine.

The position requires Senate confirmation, and Solorio will receive a compensation of $100 per day for his service. He is affiliated with the Democratic Party.
