Community Comes Together at CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods Health Fair

The CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods successfully hosted a lively Community Health Fair at Richman Park on May 3rd, 2025, drawing residents eager to access free health services and enjoy a day filled with activities. Running from 9 am to 1 pm, the fair featured a wide array of health screenings, informative giveaways, and engaging activities, including the popular “Pizza with the Police” session from 11 am to 1 pm, where families connected with local law enforcement.

Over 20 local organizations participated, offering services and activities in both Spanish and English. Attendees took advantage of diabetes and blood pressure screenings, received information on breast cancer, learned CPR, discussed crime prevention strategies, and explored oral health education. Additional highlights included gardening programs, pet therapy sessions, massages, physical activities for older adults, and games for children.

Founded in 2015, the CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods aims to address education and health disparities in low-income communities, working to break the cycle of poverty. Alejandro Espinoza, a lecturer in health science, coordinated the event with the help of his Community Health Education class.

In collaboration with the Fullerton Police Department, the health fair sought to promote wellness and strengthen community ties. Volunteers and partners played vital roles, dedicating their time and resources to ensure the event was welcoming and successful.

District 5 Councilmember Dr. Ahmad Zahra praised the initiative, saying, “A big thanks to the CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods for hosting a community health fair at Richman Park, and to all the volunteers, community leaders, and partners for making it such a special event.”

The health fair not only provided essential health services but also fostered community connections, underscoring the Center’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the well-being of Fullerton residents.
