U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) praised the recent decision by the Department of Justice to reclassify state-licensed medical marijuana as a Schedule III substance under the Controlled Substances Act. This significant move follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump in December to streamline the reclassification process.
In a statement released on April 23, Correa expressed strong support for the decision, highlighting its potential benefits for veterans in Orange County who rely on medical marijuana to manage PTSD symptoms.
“I’ve spoken to countless veterans in Orange County who use marijuana to relieve PTSD symptoms,” Correa remarked. “With the Administration moving to reclassify cannabis as Schedule III, my colleagues should join me in considering smart, evidence-based policy that supports the well-being of those who risked their lives in service to our country.”
Correa also expressed his gratitude to President Trump for the announcement, emphasizing his willingness to collaborate with Republicans and Democrats to implement this new classification.
