In a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices of veterans and in celebration of the United States’ 250th Birthday, the city of Fullerton held a special Memorial Day ceremony at Loma Vista Memorial Park on May 25, 2026. The event, which began at 10 am, was open to the public at no cost, drawing community members together for a day of remembrance and celebration.
This year’s theme, “USA 250 Years,” highlighted the nation’s rich history and acknowledged the service of its military veterans. Attendees were treated to a moving program featuring patriotic music, speeches from distinguished military leaders, and solemn moments of remembrance for those who served.
The ceremony was organized by the nonprofit American Veterans Memorial Association in collaboration with the City of Fullerton and Loma Vista Memorial Park. Local officials encouraged community participation, particularly from veterans and their families, in what was described as a poignant and meaningful event. The outdoor setting provided ample seating, and attendees were invited to bring their own chairs for comfort.
In a show of community spirit, volunteers placed American flags on the graves of over 4,400 veterans within the park. Families, individuals, and groups were welcomed to assist in this effort, receiving designated sections of the cemetery along with flags to honor those interred there.
The following day, volunteers returned to remove the flags and helped the Fullerton Community Center clean and iron them for future use.
The ceremony and the collective volunteer effort underscored the Fullerton community’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of its veterans while also celebrating a significant milestone in the nation’s history.
