One might ask, what human experience brings people together across the world? The answer is music. While cultures vary in their musical expressions, music is present in every culture studied, from hunter-gatherers to modern civilizations.
Forty-four years ago, a man from France named Mr. Jack Lang and his team created a unique musical holiday. This event takes place on the summer solstice, June 21, and aims to provide a new experience where music is free and accessible to everyone in the community.
Four decades later, the “Festival of Music,” also known as the Day of Music, has spread around the globe and is celebrated in many countries, including Australia, Mexico, Kenya, Germany, and the U.S., to name a few. More than 2,000 cities worldwide promote the Day of Music.
Over twenty years ago, the United States joined this growing movement. By 2025, 147 U.S. cities have organized 5,471 free concerts. Fullerton music lovers embraced the Day of Music, creating the largest event in Southern California.
Our community will feature over 100 artists performing across more than 30 venues, including the Fox Theater. This year, the festival coincides with Father’s Day, making this event particularly special. Celebrate Father’s Day by bringing the fathers of Fullerton to an event that honors the human experience through the magic of music. With over 30 venues throughout Fullerton on June 21, this year is bound to be a fabulous celebration.
