Local Kids Build Father’s Day Gifts provided by Home Depot at CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods STEAM Adventure Camp

The classroom at the CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods was filled with local children, interns from CSUF, and Home Depot employees, who provided craft packs for the “Goalie Game.” The children eagerly glued, painted, and assembled the game in time for Father’s Day. The kids put together wooden “Goalie Game” sets, which are tabletop goal-and-net games, to give as gifts to their fathers and father figures.

For many of the young participants, it was their first experience using real tools, as they learned to line up nails, assemble pieces, and apply paint under the watchful eyes of CSUF interns and Home Depot volunteers. The event was part of the Center’s STEAM Adventure Camp, which offers hands-on lessons in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics for children at no cost.

The CSUF Center for Healthy Neighborhoods works to promote healthy communities through free programs like after-school tutoring, Wellness classes (Yoga and Zumba), Community Forums, and health education. Families can contact the Center at (714) 441-3401 or visit the Richman Community Center in Fullerton for more information.
