The City of Fullerton has rolled out its latest transportation schedule specifically aimed at the senior citizen community, focusing on medical and recreational trips, and complimentary rides to the Fullerton Community Center. This initiative, facilitated through California Yellow Cab, seeks to enhance mobility for seniors in the area.

Alongside the updated schedule, the City is also providing essential information regarding OCTA passes and various transportation alternatives that cater to the needs of older residents.

The Senior Transportation Program enables residents aged 60 and above to access subsidized taxi and shuttle services. The taxi service operates Monday to Friday from 7 am to 8 pm, and Saturday from 7:30 am to 3 pm, ensuring that seniors have the resources they need for essential travel.

Key highlights of the taxi program include:

Non-Emergency Medical Appointments: Seniors can take advantage of subsidized taxi rides for medical appointments, both within Fullerton and up to 10 miles beyond city limits, for only $2 one way.

Grocery Shopping Trips: The program offers a similar subsidized taxi service for grocery shopping, allowing seniors to travel from home to any grocery store, also for $2 one way.

Community Center Rides: Transportation to and from the Fullerton Community Center is provided free of charge.

Seniors are eligible for up to 40 one-way trips per month (20 round trips), with no-cost nutrition transportation available for those participating in the weekday nutrition program and other activities at the Community Center. This service is accessible Monday through Friday, solely for trips from residents’ homes to the Center.

Applications for participation in the program can be submitted in person at the Fullerton Community Center, located at 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832. Interested individuals will need to provide proof of age and Fullerton residency at the time of application.

The Senior Transportation Program is made possible through a partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and is funded by Project U, which allocates 1% of Measure M2 funds.
