Before students fill classrooms with excitement on August 10, Fullerton School District employees have spent the last two weeks learning, collaborating and celebrating together to ensure a strong start to the 2026-27 school year.

The District kicked off its back-to-school preparations with the annual Management Retreat on July 29-30, bringing together site and district administrators, after-school leaders and other key staff to strengthen leadership, align priorities and reinforce a shared commitment to student success. On August 4, District educators gathered for the annual Summer Institute, where they explored new instructional strategies, shared best practices and collaborated with colleagues to prepare for the year ahead.

The week continued with New Teacher Orientation on August 5, welcoming 50 educators to Team FSD and introducing them to the people, programs and resources that will support them throughout the year. Preparations culminated with the District’s annual Back-to-School Welcome BBQ on August 6, giving teachers and staff an opportunity to reconnect, celebrate the start of a new year and build excitement before returning to their campuses to prepare classrooms and welcome students.

“The start of a new school year is filled with possibility, and that begins with the incredible people who serve our students every day,” Superintendent Gretchen Janson, Ed.D., said. “By investing in our employees, strengthening relationships and learning from one another, we’re building the foundation for an exceptional year of growth and success for every student.”

These annual traditions reflect Fullerton School District’s commitment to investing in its people, recognizing that strong leadership, continuous learning and meaningful collaboration create the foundation for student success. As the 2026-27 school year begins, District employees are ready to inspire, support and empower every student from the very first day of school.
