Years of Service and Assembly Achievements in the 67th Assembly District

Before Sacramento, Sharon Quirk-Silva served on the Fullerton City Council from 2004 to 2012, including two terms as Mayor. A teacher for 30 years, she was first elected to the Assembly in 2012 and has represented communities including Anaheim, Artesia, Cerritos, Cypress, Buena Park, Fullerton, Hawaiian Gardens, and La Palma. The “12 years” is cumulative, not consecutive. She was first elected in 2012, narrowly defeating incumbent Republican Chris Norby, lost the seat to Young Kim two years later, then regained it in 2016 and has held it since. Her current term ends December 7, 2026.

Chair of the Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 5 on State Administration; member of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and Joint Legislative Budget Committee; and member of the standing committees on Housing and Community Development, Budget, Revenue and Taxation, and Arts, Entertainment, Sports and Tourism.

• Authored AB 1453, directing the state to design, build, and operate a state-owned Southern California Veterans Cemetery in Irvine, and later AB 368, which revised the authorized site and required CalVet to complete acquisition studies — signed into law, with $20 million secured for the project. Championed the Fairview effort, establishing a temporary mental health program at the Fairview Developmental Center providing housing and supportive services for up to 200 individuals with severe mental illness.

$2.5 million for the Fullerton Boys and Girls Club; $2.5 million for the Fullerton Hunt Library; $20 million for the Southern California Veterans Cemetery; $4 million toward construction of a Korean American National Museum; and $14 million in building modernizations for Fullerton College.
