Fullerton School District parent ambassadors gathered at Rolling Hills Elementary School on September 4 for the first Champions for Learning event of the 2026-27 school year, continuing a Districtwide effort to strengthen family voice, connection and leadership.

Champions for Learning brings together parent ambassadors from each of FSD’s 20 schools for quarterly, multilingual meetings that rotate among District campuses. The format allows parents to learn about District priorities, discuss issues affecting families and experience the programs that make each school community unique.

At Rolling Hills, parents learned about the school’s multiage and performing arts programs and District resources, including Community Schools, while connecting with staff and sharing perspectives from their own campuses.

“I have learned so many cool things about what our schools are doing, and we can be ambassadors and share that with our own school communities,” Raymond Elementary parent and three-year Champion Jenette Lopez said. “Champions is one of the ways that Fullerton School District values our opinions.”

Unlike formal parent organizations and advisory committees, Champions for Learning operates as a community-driven network, giving parents an additional avenue to take ownership, build relationships and help shape the District’s direction – helping to inform the District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan and annual budget process.

“It’s amazing that I can help parents with things like registering for Encore,” said Ellen Nguyen, a Fisler School parent who has served as a Champion for more than seven years. “Every family has different needs, and being part of the voice and an ear for families at our school site is comforting.”

Through Champions for Learning, Fullerton School District ensures families have meaningful opportunities to be heard, become informed advocates and help create welcoming, connected school communities where every student can thrive.

Up next is the Champions for Children Block Party on November 14 at Pacific Drive Elementary School, followed by Champions for Learning meetings on January 29 at Maple Elementary School and April 2 at Parks Junior High School.
