Cal State Fullerton’s Titans women’s soccer team and the Athletics Department are organizing a candlelight vigil to honor the life of Lauren Turner, a dedicated student-athlete who tragically passed away on November 7 following a nearly six-week stay in the ICU due to a serious off-campus traffic collision. The vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. on the field at Titan Stadium. Attendees can access the stadium through the South Entrance ramp leading down to the field.
The full impact of Turner’s passing has reverberated through the Titan community, prompting heartfelt condolences for her family, including parents Christopher and Christine, and sisters Nicolette and Victoria. Tributes have flooded in from teammates, coaches, staff members, and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.
A native of Tustin, California, Turner was a sophomore on the women’s soccer team, contributing significantly to the team’s historic unbeaten start to the 2025 season. She participated in 10 games this year, starting in eight, and showcased her versatility by playing multiple positions. Notably, she played the full 90 minutes in the Titans’ victory against Pitt, which marked a pivotal win against an ACC opponent. Last season, she played in all 20 games, scoring her first collegiate goal in a match against UC Riverside.
The 2025 Titans Soccer Team released a statement reflecting on Turner’s spirit and presence: “Lauren was the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for. She was the first to celebrate other people’s wins and embodied the true essence of an amazing person. With her compassion, kindness, and unwavering happiness, she left an immeasurable impact on the Titans women’s soccer program. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered by her Titan family. We love you, Lauren, our No. 5 Forever.”
The community is encouraged to come together in remembrance during this somber time, reflecting on Turner’s memory and contributions both on and off the field.
