Fullerton School District Opens New Arts and Recreation Center at Parks Junior High

Fullerton School District celebrated the opening of the new Arts and Recreation Center (ARC) at D. Russell Parks Junior High School on May 7, introducing a vibrant new space for athletics, performances and community events.

Students, families, staff, elected officials and community members gathered for the ribbon-cutting celebration, which featured performances by the school’s drum line and cheer as well as remarks highlighting the impact the new facility will have on generations of students.

Made possible through Measure N, the 10,000-square-foot center features full-size basketball and volleyball courts, additional practice courts, spectator seating, and a performance stage equipped with professional lighting and sound. The thoughtfully designed facility also incorporates energy-efficient cooling and abundant natural lighting, creating a welcoming environment for student performances, athletic events and community gatherings.

The ARC represents the District’s continued investment in creating modern, engaging spaces that support the whole child by expanding opportunities for physical activity, creativity, collaboration and connection.

Measure N is a $262 million bond approved by voters in November 2024 to provide needed facility repairs, technology upgrades and campus improvements throughout the District. The Parks Junior High ARC is the second center completed through the bond program, following the opening of the first ARC at Nicolas Junior High School in 2025. Additional ARCs are planned at Beechwood and Fisler Schools in the future as part of the District’s long-term facilities improvement efforts.

At Fullerton School District, investments like the ARC reflect a strong commitment to providing students with innovative, future-focused learning environments where they can thrive academically, creatively and socially while strengthening connections across the entire school community.
