The Fullerton City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 5:30 pm to discuss proposed amendments to the Fullerton Municipal Code affecting businesses that sell tobacco products. The meeting will take place at the Fullerton City Council Chamber, located at 303 West Commonwealth Avenue.
The proposed changes aim to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products within city limits. This involves amending Title 3, which governs the regulation of activities, and Title 15, which covers zoning ordinances. Notably, a new chapter, Chapter 3.45, focusing specifically on regulations for businesses selling tobacco products, will be introduced.
City officials encourage community involvement and invite residents to attend the meeting in person or participate remotely via live streaming on the city’s website, Spectrum Cable Channel 3, or AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Those wishing to provide oral comments remotely can do so through computers, smart devices, or telephones. In-person attendance is also welcome, though seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
David Lopez from the Community and Economic Development Department is available to answer questions or receive comments prior to the public hearing and can be reached at (714) 738-6878 or via email at David.Lopez@cityoffullerton.com.
The proposed zoning amendment has been deemed exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and was initially approved by the Planning Commission on August 27, 2025. The City Council’s final decision will be made during this public hearing.
For residents seeking additional information or updates, the city’s agenda and materials will be available on the official website 72 hours prior to the public hearing. Special accommodations for individuals with disabilities are available upon request; contact the City Clerk at cityclerksoffice@cityoffullerton.com.
Residents are urged to mark their calendars for this significant discussion, which is expected to impact local tobacco regulations.
